It was with great joy and high expectations that we embarked on our first annual “Morais Easter Egg Hunt,” here at the winery. We were so eager to shake of the harshness of this past winter and jump full force into the first festive spring event of the year! Our expectations were not disappointed. What ensued on that day was beyond what we anticipated. We had a remarkable turnout of those who also must have been chomping at the bit to get out and shake off the winter hibernation.
We sincerely endeavor to make our winery a family friendly environment, going above and beyond to ensure that children are not only welcomed, but they are celebrated here! So naturally, the day started with the children’s egg hunts, which were divided by age groups for a safe and even hunting experience for all. The eggs were hidden by our team with such passion and excitement, that they may have had as much fun in hiding them as the kiddies did in finding them!
The front of the venue provided the perfect hunting ground with a variety in landscape and hiding spots, making it challenging for the hunters, yet close enough for parents to watch and photograph the fun.
The Easter Bunny made an appearance and we all got hopping when he taught everyone the “Hop Hop Dance”. He posed for photos and passed out treats for the children to enjoy. It was an all-around good time for children and parents, and let’s be honest, aren’t most children’s events better when the parents also get to enjoy a little wine?
Moving into the afternoon, we scheduled the adult Easter Egg Hunts. We offered two hunts, each with a maximum of 40 hunters, just to keep things…well…safe! These 80 hunting spots filled up lightning fast, which was a fun surprise for us. We all have great memories of Easter egg hunting when we were little…well, I think these “big kids” made plenty more on this day!
The eggs were full of candy, yes, but some contained prize vouchers to be redeemed after the hunt, which ranged from wine glasses to blankets to the grand prize of free tastings for a year! There were only two lucky golden egg winners for these gems.
The day was a brilliant success, which inspired us to immediately begin planning the festivities for next year, (which may or may not involve a hunt by night)! Keep your eyes on our Facebook page for details early next year.
