Our Blog

metallic wedding shoes with ankle strap

Wedding shoes that have walked Morais Vineyards and Winery

Let’s just say right off, that we LOVE shoes. Yes they function for us in a completely utilitarian fashion, but footwear is a major accessory as well and peeping out from beneath THE dress is a less seen but equally as important adornment.  We let these bridal beauties steal the show in this post as our staff list their top picks from some of our recent Morais Weddings here in Bealton VA.  From unconventional to iconic we’ll even run through some location specific practicalities of a few of our choices.

The mixed metallic wave hit us as a wildly popular choice this year in the wedding industry and shoes were no exception. Check these sexy little things Aimee wore. Photo courtesy of  Sam Hurd Photography . We are digging the bronze and silver combo!

Moving on through the metallics is this fun duo that Sarah rocked for her summer wedding.  She brought the glam with these opened toed, cross strapped heels and continued the party with the stylish bridal sandals.  Photo courtesy of Sarah Houston Photography. Here is a perfect “location specific” choice; these sandals were great for frolicking through the grape vines and around the vineyards ground searching for those picture perfect spots not to mention the dancing!  You will be on your feet a lot on your wedding day- Be prepared.

Vibrant accent colors are oh-so-cute to she popping from beneath the dress. Like these “something blue” peep toed pumps Aleksandra wore. Colorful Bridal Heels with Brooch

Moving on we come to the classics. Leading in with these sophisticated and iconic Kate Spade sling back heels worn by the lovely Candace at her May Wedding. Thank you Stephanie Messick Photography for the photo.

Speaking of bows… Classic with a side of bling were these jeweled bowed ladies Ireyon brought to her party. Photo Courtesy of Darling Photographers out of Chantilly Virginia.

Continuing with the classics, we couldn’t go wrong with Christine’s simple, nude, pointed toed shoes. Photo thanks to Rachel May Photography.  We love the accessory setup here too.

To some, comfort is paramount. What better way to be functioning at max capacity as well as letting personality shine. Check out these “bust a move” shoes that Brittany boogied in. Photo Courtesy of Terri Baskin Photography.

And finally, we leave you with a few of our favorite bridal shoes that bring the “wow”.  We were Goo-Goo Ga-Ga over Carmen’s blinged out pumps with jewels wrapped down the heels. Photo by Andsam Photography.  Selena was glammed out for her big day with these fabulous crystal encrusted heels with bow ankle straps.  Can we just say “Foxy”. Thanks to Kap2ure Photography of Baltimore, MD for this shot.

Wedding Heels that wow Crystal wrapped Heals

These opened toed, ankle strapped beauts Jen wore, were all “business in the front, party in the back”.  The talented Alison Leigh Photography out of Philadelphia, PA brought us these gorgeous images to the table. We definitely had a blast finding these favorites from our past weddings to share. Although barely seen, wedding shoes DO have a big impact and we love seeing the diversity of footwear that walks through our doors.

Morais Vineyards and Winery- Not just a wedding venue

You’re reading this post, which means you have definitely seen some amazing images of beautiful weddings here at Morais Vineyards and Winery. Our close proximity to the Washington, DC metropolitan area does have quite the draw and holds diverse appeal for those looking for a unique venue to exchange the “I do”s. Weddings however are not the only special events we host.  As a private event facility, you rent the space and plan your party for whatever celebration you might be bring friends and family together for.

We are highlighting here a very special event from this season’s line up. The beautiful and talented Vanessa was honored with this gathering to celebrate her First Communion.

Vanessa 1

The Grand Ballroom of the Palacio is a blank canvas just waiting for splash of color to bring the setup to life. All colors show so nicely against the pale palette backdrop of the dressed wall with copious amounts of natural light.

Each event is uniquely inspired and every one is different. Vanessa’s Communion of example; the hostess used special order, designer cakes as the table number stands. Guests were encouraged to partake in these utilitarian props at their leisure.

The table setup for this event was divinely inspired with “King’s Tables” intersecting to form a cross and used to seat family as a head table.

Attention to detail was impeccable at Vanessa’s Party. From the thoughtfulness of menu items to the smallest details of table scape. Guests felt pampered and were wowed by the fabulous food, drink and music and Vanessa was honored in the most extravagant and memorable of ways.  Diversity of events is a huge draw and we hope that you are inspired to make it your very own.

Many thanks to all the vendors who helped make this special day, fit for a princess.

Elegant Hacienda Styled Photo Shoot

Every so often, Morais Vineyards and Winery has the honor of participating in a styled photoshoot. We love these projects because they give us the opportunity to partner with other outstanding vendors in the industry and collectively create something beautiful that will captivate and inspire. Recently, the wildly talented photographer, Maureen Pacheco and the uber creative wedding planner and stylist Esma Krahn, asked us to be a part of an elegant, Latin, hacienda, styled wedding shoot.

This photo shoot wholly exemplified Morais’s inclination toward an exotic flare, from the depth and richness of the color palette to the exquisite details in design and fare.

The “bride” looked stunning in the sensational Angel Rivera gown from Soliloquy Bridal Couture, which was complemented by a whimsical cathedral length Spanish mantilla from The Mantilla Company. The bouquet and other florals were skillfully crafted by Laura, of Buttercups Floral Design. Parrot tulips, hellebores, mums, ivy, spray roses, and ranunculus were the essential elements she used to create the gorgeous arrangements.

Gold chivairi chairs, featured by the venue, played very nicely with the luxurious feel of the table settings. The gold chain lace anchored the delicate and sophisticated elements of the sweetheart table.

Hemibry Catering’s talented team created a scrumptious spread of theme appropriate bites. The ever so delicious empanadas were paired perfectly with their house special dipping sauce, which had just the right amounts of garlic and cilantro. “Great things come in small packages” and that is exactly what these Mini Churros were! Why is food cuter when it’s small? A welcomed sight and even more so, a welcomed bite were the perfectly executed bite sized flans. Topping it off, the “arroz con leche” cups were super easy to eat, not too sweet and with the perfect touch of spice.

What a great idea this little Latin American shot station was! The miniature tequila favors were brilliant! And who could say, “no,” to such an inviting display of fresh lemonade and red wine sangria?

This dessert station though! It, quite possibly, could make one feel they have stumbled into Willy Wonka’s very own wedding reception! We have never seen sweets look so pretty! These delicate sugary dainties were the artwork of the highly skilled team at Simply Elegant Delights. The impressive, three-tiered, organic wedding cake was adorned with exquisite lace applique on fondant with gold ribbon and finishing touches of real flowers. This masterpiece showcased the inspiration and artistry of the fabulously talented Lora, of Gateau Distinctive Cakes.

This romantic, hacienda styled photo shoot was a smashing success! We can’t thank Esme and Maureen enough for inviting us to be part of such a wonderfully creative day! It is always nice to see the professionalism and dedication of such outstanding industry professionals.

Thank you to all the wonderful vendors involved in this styled shoot!

Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza

It was with great joy and high expectations that we embarked on our first annual “Morais Easter Egg Hunt,” here at the winery. We were so eager to shake of the harshness of this past winter and jump full force into the first festive spring event of the year! Our expectations were not disappointed. What ensued on that day was beyond what we anticipated. We had a remarkable turnout of those who also must have been chomping at the bit to get out and shake off the winter hibernation.

We sincerely endeavor to make our winery a family friendly environment, going above and beyond to ensure that children are not only welcomed, but they are celebrated here! So naturally, the day started with the children’s egg hunts, which were divided by age groups for a safe and even hunting experience for all. The eggs were hidden by our team with such passion and excitement, that they may have had as much fun in hiding them as the kiddies did in finding them!

The front of the venue provided the perfect hunting ground with a variety in landscape and hiding spots, making it challenging for the hunters, yet close enough for parents to watch and photograph the fun.

The Easter Bunny made an appearance and we all got hopping when he taught everyone the “Hop Hop Dance”. He posed for photos and passed out treats for the children to enjoy. It was an all-around good time for children and parents, and let’s be honest, aren’t most children’s events better when the parents also get to enjoy a little wine?

Moving into the afternoon, we scheduled the adult Easter Egg Hunts. We offered two hunts, each with a maximum of 40 hunters, just to keep things…well…safe! These 80 hunting spots filled up lightning fast, which was a fun surprise for us. We all have great memories of Easter egg hunting when we were little…well, I think these “big kids” made plenty more on this day!

The eggs were full of candy, yes, but some contained prize vouchers to be redeemed after the hunt, which ranged from wine glasses to blankets to the grand prize of free tastings for a year! There were only two lucky golden egg winners for these gems.

The day was a brilliant success, which inspired us to immediately begin planning the festivities for next year, (which may or may not involve a hunt by night)! Keep your eyes on our Facebook page for details early next year.

A huge thank you to the wildly talented and extraordinarily exuberant team at Anchor Images for the photos they provided.

Ceremony Inspiration

Wedding ceremonies are a big deal and each is unique in its own right. At Morais Vineyards and Winery we offer several options for ceremony locations, which can stand alone as a gorgeous backdrop, but we also know that each and every couple deserves for their special moment of commitment in front of friends and family to be inspired, fresh and uniquely “them”. The true testament of the quality of a space is its ability to beautifully transform under the inspiration of every couple that lays hold of it. Enter, inspiration station.

Our standard site “the Pergola” has many different faces and there are countless ways to make it “your own”.

The Grand Ballroom is the next most used location for holding the ceremony. There are a number of ways this space can be used to create a beautiful and intimate ceremony.
